10/31/00 - TeenHope Peace Table Youth and Family Mediation - Ron Gordon

The Peace Table is extraordinary because it works. It works because it uses a trained team of co-mediators, one adult and one youth. Using co-mediators provides common ground and equal voice. Youth mediators demonstrate to both parent and teen that a young person is able to understand both perspectives. They are uniquely able to help the parties communicate their needs in ways that will be understood by the other. Equally important, youths listen to other young people.

Learning for Life
Learning for Life helps schools, businesses, and community institutions prepare youth to handle the complexities of contemporary society. It helps them to make ethical decisions and makes academic learning fun and relevant to real-life situations. Groups are established at the elementary, junior high and high school levels. Many of the programs are held in school during class time, others are based at work sites and various centers in the community.
